Luke Evans - firstname.lastname@example.org
Luke Evans is the church planter and pastor of Christ Church San Antonio. Luke was born in Fort Worth but spent most of his childhood in the Panhandle town of Amarillo, Texas. He is the son of a preacher and has been around church all of his life. However, it was not until the summer between his freshman and sophomore year at Baylor University that he really began to understand the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through studying Saint Paul's letter to the Romans with his father, Luke saw that summer in a new way how deeply sinful he was and how deeply gracious God is. This awakening of the power of the gospel in his life was one of the most significant things that had ever happened to him, and remains so to this day. Upon arrival back at Baylor for his sophomore year, Luke was really eager to grow in his faith and also very evangelistically active with friends. In God's providence, a friend of a friend invited him to a Bible study called "RUF", which stands for Reformed University Fellowship, the campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America. Luke soon got involved with this ministry as a student leader and begin to sense a serious call to pastoral ministry from God. After graduating from Baylor, Luke attended Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and earned a Master of Divinity there. He served for one year at a church in the Philadelphia area before he was called to serve as the Associate Pastor at Rincon Mountain Presbyterian Church in Tucson. Luke was there for six great years and engaged in all different sorts of fruitful ministry. However, in concert with Rincon Mountain, the Southwest Church Planting Network, and other churches in the San Antonio area, Luke felt compelled to plant Christ Church San Antonio, and began that new journey in July 2013. Planting Christ Church is simply Luke's attempt to be obedient to the missional call God has placed on his life. God has been gracious to him, and he wants to see the gospel change lives all over San Antonio.
Luke and Marianne have three children: Nathaniel (8) Ainsley, (7), and Benjamin (5).
