Childcare Guidelines

Christ Church San Antonio Childcare Guidelines
Please exercise good judgment and love for your neighbor as you evaluate whether your child is healthy enough to be in childcare. For the well being of all our children, we ask that children remain at home if they are exhibiting the following symptoms:

  • Cold symptoms such as heavy coughing, excessive sneezing, yellowish discharge from the eyes or nose

  • A temperature of 100.5 degrees or higher in the last 48 hours

  • Flushed cheeks, rapid breathing or difficulty breathing (without recent physical activity), fatigue, or extreme fussiness

  • Vomiting or diarrhea within the last 48 hours

  • Questionable rashes
Additional COVID-19 Guidelines
  • Self-screen: if you or anyone in your home has recently experienced any symptoms named above please stay home and get healthy

  • One Parent Rule: please only one parent picking up and dropping off. Please be prompt, as staff will need to spend a good deal of time disinfecting toys for the next group of children.

  • Disinfection: we will continue to do our best with disinfecting toys before, during, and after service.

  • Snacks: Our staff members will do the best they can to ensure NO two children are sharing sippy cups and/or snacks. Please LABEL all of your child’s belongings to ensure staff knows whom it belongs to. There are snacks in the room that will be given to your child. If your child has an allergy please notify the volunteers in the room.

  •  Bathroom: Our childcare workers will NOT have access to a restroom. If your toddler is potty trained we suggest keeping them with you during the service or having them go before dropping them off.

If an adult in the nursery observes these or other symptoms of illness, parents will be called to remove their child.
Further Information:

1. LABEL everything.
This is crucial to ensuring that your child is using their things. The workers and volunteers will need to know who the diaper bag, sippy cup, and any special snack belong too.

2. ONE PARENT. Please have only one parent check-in and check out your child. This helps clear the congestion in the hallway and allow people to space out accordingly.

3. BE PROMPT!! This is huge! Please pick up your child right after service. We have quite a bit of cleaning to do before children arrive for the next service. You are welcome to fellowship after you have picked up your child.

4. PRESCREEN. This is crucial to ensuring that you and your children are healthy for church and childcare. We will have a thermometer there just in case. Please ensure you and your family have been symptom-free for a minimum of 24 hours. See additional email with symptoms to check for.

CHECK-IN: When you arrive you will see the check-in station for kids down the hallway from the worship room. A greeter will be there to help you check in your child and direct you where to drop them off.  Please have all of your materials labeled (I will have temporary sticky labels if needed).

CHECK OUT: Immediately after service please stand in line at the check-in station. A volunteer will be there to take your security tag and will get your children for you from the classroom. DO NOT pass the check-in station and try to check out your child, a volunteer will bring them to you.

Additional information: you will have access to the outside playground. Leadership asks that you go outside with your children and ensure their safety while on Great Hearts property. As always please email me with any further questions or concerns: celbel@christchurchsa.com. I look forward to seeing you and your families this Sunday!
